This art formed is knows as the Art of the Palace because of its intricate process requiring a deep understanding of the materials and techniques used by ancient artisans in the Nakashane, the art workshop of the Palace. For over 5 years Raquy trained at the Klasik Sanat Art Academy, Caferaga Medresse, the Taner Alakus Atelier and Nazan Berbercioglu’s Harmony Sanat Atelier where she was the only non- Turkish student in the classes.

Through the guidance of her master teachers, Raquy has been able to bring these ancient techniques to life in her own artwork.

The themes of Raquy’s paintings include henna hands, camels, demons, dragons, Ottoman characters, biblical characters, puppets, geometrical shapes, musical instruments, medallions, music, maps, Jaffa, Jerusalem and Istanbul.

Raquy has created a series of illuminated music manuscripts. Inspired by the style typically used for text manuscripts, these paintings showcase excerpts from Raquy’s own melodic compositions, as well as traditional music. thus organically combining her two beloved art forms.
