- Raquy Danziger is a celebrated performer, teacher, and composer known for her expertise on the darbuka, the Middle-Eastern goblet drum. Raquy has performed and taught around the globe from the great concert halls of Egypt to remote towns in Siberia, spreading love and excitement for darbuka drumming.
- Lady Bruce is a percussive dancer, teacher, choreographer, and musician from Callander, Ontario.
- Anna Dirnberger is a music- and movement pedagogue, multi-instrumentalist, and composer from Vienna, Austria. She works as a piano teacher and a music teacher in the field of adult education.
- Hyungoo Sung is a musician and percussionist from Seoul, Republic of Korea.

The Sufi Festival was created in order to acknowledge and share the Sufi culture, art and wisdom which have been past down from generation to generation. The Sufi festival is a place for introspection, friendship and self expression beyond time. A zone in which music, dance and silence become a language.

6 Week LIVE Darbuka Course starting Feb 28
This is a 6 week LIVE open level darbuka course where we will work on the split hand darbuka style.
Every Sunday from Feb 28 - April 4 at 12 noon New York time.
The lessons will be hosted in a Facebook group which you will be invited to join after you register.
Take the course live or watch the lessons any time after.
The piece we will work on is Raquy's hit song called Monkey Mind!
Monkey Mind includes Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Lebanese, and Fusion rhythms. It uses split hand techniques such as triplet rolls, interlaced rolls, descending pops plus all kinds of snaps. At the end of the course, we will play it together (nice and slow).

DARBUKA WORKSHOP: SPLIT HAND, RITMI E FRASEGGI
Il workshop è incentrato sullo studio della darbuka con particolare attenzione alla tecnica moderna "split hand", sviluppatasi in Turchia e oramai diffusa in tutto il mondo. Raquy, musicista americana con base a Istanbul, svilupperà il suo lavoro attraverso lo studio dei seguenti punti:
- Tecnica ed esercizi di base
- Ritmi
- Fraseggio
- Tecniche di improvvisazione
Il metodo sviluppato da Raquy nel corso di numerosi workshop in tutto il mondo, consente di lavorare contemporaneamente con diversi livelli di preparazione degli studenti, dai principianti ai professionisti.
Il workshop intensivo di 5 ore è suddiviso in due moduli da 2 ore e mezza ciascuno con la possibilità di frequentarne uno soltanto; è consigliata comunque la partecipazione all'intero percorso in modo da immergersi completamente nello studio e nel format proposto da Raquy.

Raquy Danziger is a world-famous Middle Eastern instrumentalist based in Istanbul. Renowned for her electrifying performances, she is considered one of the foremost experts and virtuosos of the oriental goblet drum known as the darbuka. Through her performances, compositions and methodical teaching method, Raquy has made an outstanding contribution toward elevating the darbuka from a humble folk drum to a shining solo instrument fit for a concert hall. The Split Hand Technique is a darbuka style that has appeared in Turkey in the last 20 years. The drummers use the individual fingers, attaining great speed and dexterity. Raquy has lived in Istanbul for the past several years learning this style and practicing with master drummers. This workshop will cover the basics of this style as well as the traditional rhythms and phrases.

FUNDAMENTOS BASICOS DE LA TECNICA SPLIT HAND DE DARBUKA
La técnica Split Hand es un estilo de Darbuka creado en Turquía hace veinte años. Los percusionistas utilizan determinados dedos de manera individual, logrando una gran velocidad y destreza. Raquy ha vivido en Estambul durante los últimos años aprendiendo este estilo y practicando con los maestros de Darbuka. Este taller cubrirá los conceptos básicos de este estilo, así como los ritmos y frases tradicionales.
Se recomienda traer Darbuka o Dumbek.

Este taller está especialmente recomendado para percusionistas que ya conocen los conceptos básicos de Darbuka. Raquy mostrará las últimas técnicas que ha estado aprendiendo de los maestros de Darbuka en Estambul. Además de estas técnicas, se trabajarán ritmos menos habituales, ejercicios de tiempo y frases en solitario.
