Bow and Brush

In this double self portrait, Raquy explores her two main creative outlets - music and art.

The centerpiece of the painting you find a kamancha bow and a painting brush. In presenting these two creative tools in this way Raquy is highlighting the similarities of the bow making sounds and the brush making lines.

Above the figures is a roof decorated with mosaic fish and water.

Perched on the structure are a parrot, a seagul, an owl and a crow.

Notice the spiders close to each figure. This shows Raquy’s love and appreciation of spiders.

Below the figures is a cat and a turtle.

Painted with real gold and watercolors.
